Hi Barbara,

Thanks for replying. The John Mitchell of Duxbury died in 1711 in Duxbury,
Massachusetts. His brother Joseph settled his estate that year. My John
didn't die until 1758 in East Haddam. There were earlier John Mitchells in
Hartford, but I don't know if (but suspect) we are connected. How can I
help you with the Ackleys?

Regards,

Elaine

recomend When you do a search, use the + or - 10 yrs.then download the
gedcom & print out a report. Sometimes the dates show up for a baptisim
BEFORE the year of birth you see on the site. Somtimes the parents are dead
before the child is born. The LDS staff can't verify all the info & people
submit a whole new line instead of having a correction done. I pulled off an
entire line to find out it was all wrong. But, you shopuld always check
other sources to verify the LDS files.
> I was able to run a entire line back to Charlemagne, my aunt is still
verifying dates with history books & other sources she has. Lucky for us,
very few corrections need to be made... the yrs. are off by one or two., we
can live with that.
> In a nut shell my rules of thumb for the LDS is, search for your ancestor,
see how far back you can go with the line, download the gedcom (s)
(somethimes it takes more than one download to get it all), print out a
report and read through it all. Look under the additional info. for burial
dates & places, baptisim dates & places. Most of the time the ancestor is
correct, just the dates are off or wrong.
