Oops, didn't mean to overstep the rules of this list. Perhaps I should have
explained that I came across the term pertaining to ancestors who were in
the Glastonbury and East Hartford, CT areas at the time, so I thought it was
a term local to that area. Hence, my post to this list.

Thank you all for the quick response - I try to learn something new each
day.

Kathie,
I am treading on thin ice regarding list rules in answering your first
question as it is a religious belief. The term "sealing" is one that
many genealogists either have or will run into in their searches so am
going to answer on the list.

The "Sealing Spouse" that you asked about is most likely in conjunction
with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The members of the
church believe that families can continue to be a unit after death. You
may also run into the term "sealing to parents". Sealing a couple is
essentially marrying them forever and not just until death. And
"sealing to parents" is the same type of thing. This is done for living
people and also deceased ancestors in the churches temples. This belief
is the main reason the church is so heavily involved in getting the
genealogy data that we all benefit from.

So as to not overstep lists rules I would suggest you click on "Why
Family History?" on the Family Search site: http://www.familysearch.org/
which gives a very short but concise answer to your question.
