1. Deerfield was settled about 1677 by 20 families from
Hatfield,Mass.
2. Deerfield was attacked in 1673(around) as nearby Northfield
(Northfield was not rebuilt until 1713/4)
3. Deerfield rebuilt in 1678
4. town offices are in South Deerfield
(South Deerfield is a "section" of Deerfield)
5. South Deerfield area also known as "Bloody Brook" due to the
massacre of 1704.

Between 1712-1811: the following towns had land annexed from
Deerfield.
1753: to "District" of Greenfield
1764: to Deerfield and Huntstown(Ashfield)
1767: "District" of Conway
1768: "District" of Shelburne
1791: part annexed to Conway
1810: part annexed to Whately
Some "section or village names" that you may see in old records for Deerfield
-Bardwell's Ferry; Cheapside; Deerfield Center; East Deerfield; Great River;
Hillside, Hoosac, Mill & Barr; Mill Village; Old Deerfield; Petty's Plain;
Pine Nook; Riverbank; Stillwater; South Deerfield; The Bars; Wapping;
West Deerfield.
