Hi Bunny:
Very interesting list of names.
I have never been able to determine what boats brought the Cornet Robert
Stetson (Plymouth Colony) and Moses Pengry (nee Pingree) (Massachusetts Bay
Colony) families to North America. Actually, the first Pingrees often used
Pengry/Pengrey or even Pengray as the favored spelling form when they first arrived,
but soon thereafter they used the more common Pingree spelling for most of the
children.
I would say the Pingrees first arrived in the early 1630's, but data I viewed
recently suggests that they were here even earlier than that date. In any
event the Pengrys came from England not withstanding their French backgound.
Apparently, they had fled from France to England at an earlier time and probably
the reason for leaving France was due to religious persecution from what I can
tell from my research.
I would like to learn the names of the boats carrying the Stetsons and the
Pengrys, so your information would be helpful and your suggestions are also
invited.
I do have some information on the early 1630s arrival of the Tuttle family
(Angel Gabriel + The Planter, ME + MA respectively as I recall) , but I welcome
any additional data that you might have on the Tuttle family too. The Tuttles
that landed in ME moved over to NH at a very early date. The Tuttles that
landed at Rumney Marsh in Chelsea, MA moved to the North Shore or Essex County
before moving on to the Hartford, CT area at an early date.
Lastly, the Weatherbee family may have arrived in Nova Scotia, but the timing
of their arrival is not currently know to me. At least Nova Scotia is where
they were known to be before they came to MA.
Thanks for all the interesting data you post for others to view. Regards,
Bill.
Family names being researched: TUTTLE, PINGREE, WEATHERBEE, STETSON,
ELLERSHAW, COTE, LEFEBVRE, WESTHAVER
