Hi, All:

I've just signed on to this list and have a few questions I hope you can
help me with. I've exhausted the LDS' catalog of films for the area of
Litchfield County I'm searching--the City of Torrington.

1) Can anyone tell me whether there are newspapers available for the
County of Litchfield or the City of Torrington for the years 1889 to
about 1905? If they exist, where are they and are they indexed? Very
specifically I'm trying to find a death or divorce in the timeframe of
the Fall of 1902 through October 1904. Several children were turned
over to the Gilbert School in October 1904 and the assumption is that
their father died. Their mother kept the youngest child and was
remarried sometime around 1907, that year suggested by the age of the
first child she had with husband #2.

2) Are there searchable court records for the City of Torrington?
County of Litchfield? If so, how do I find them?

Any advice or suggestions on where to seek records--or any resources
list members might have--would be very much appreciated.
