Subject: [CTMID] CLARK - Early Marriage Records - Haddam

These early marriage records for the CLARK surname are from the
Barbour Collection. Unfortunately for researchers today, the
maiden name of the bride was not included in the town records
from where these were originally recorded. The names in ( )s were,
I believe, added later. Notes in [ ]s are ones I've added - additions,
corrections and further sourcing to those would be appreciated..

[son of Joseph CLARK & Ruth SPENCER, grandson of William
CLARK & Gerard SPENCER, original settlers of Haddam. Daniel
died 28 Apr 1732 and his will is recorded in Manwaring, Vol 3, p
25. The will mentions his wife, Mary; sons: Daniel (eldest son),
Hezekiah, & Joseph, who all received land; & daughters, Abigail,
Sarah, Deborah & Mary who received the lands not given to their
brothers along with all personal property not already disposed of in
the will. Either Abigail or Sarah was married to Daniel Spencer,
who moved for a division of the real estate in 1734. In 1738, James
was 18 and Deborah was 16 - they both chose their brother
Hezekiah to be their guardian. In 1741, Mary was 12 years and
chose brother-in-law, Daniel Spencer to be her guardian. Daniel
was my 7th Great-grand-uncle]

say for sure. Joseph was my 7th Great-grand-uncle.]
