I guess you have seen the tombstones in Germany in their churchyards. The
person is buried for 20 years with the tombstone above the burial plot. After
the 20 years are up, the family is asked if they want to pay for another 20
years. If not, the body is exhumed, the tombstone removed and placed by the
chapel, replaced by another body and marker. The old bones seem to be strewn in
the churchyard from what I have seen. The nearby Dutch churches seem to do
the same.
