Around 1936 or 38, the Connecticut River flooded badly. It effected Hartford,
to the extent that they decided to build dikes after that. My folks & I lived
on Main St. in the north end of Hartford. They left the house and we went to
stay with Grandma until the danger was over. This probably would have
effected Waterbury also.
