I'm curious to know if the Hotchkiss family you refer to have anything to
due with the gunmakers. My great-great grandfather was once superintendent
(1870's) of Winchester Firearms in New Haven and in that industry his whole
life. I recall Hotchkiss as being a name that is prevelant in that area for
gunmaking and I want to see within Winchester as well.

I am related to the Hotchkiss fmily also. I have not done a great deal of
research on that side of my Cowell family, but know the Hotchkiss was very
well represented in New Haven County. That is New Haven, Woodbridge, etc.
Searching out the New England Gen. Society in Boston; of the New Haven
Colonies in Conn; as well as other major sites shoult provide pleanty of
info. Also, go on line under the HOTCHKISS web site might help.

Good luck.
