Susan,
Thank you very much for all of that information. It helps make sense of
the 1920 data I found for Mary SENIOR in Salisbury--it looked like the
age and marriage status were "Un"--I thought that meant "Unknown." She
must not have been home at the time because birth place was listed as
U.S. The two children Lila and Earl were listed as being born in CT.
Lakeville ED 207 Jan 31 and Feb 2, 1920 (Ancestry image 7 of 31)
Household 70, family 70, Church Street (next is Town Hill Road)
SENIOR Mary, Head, R, F, W, Un or Wid?*, __, yes, yes, US, US, US, yes
Lila, Daughter, F, W, 16, S, yes, yes, yes, CT, US, US
Earl, Son, M, W, 14, S, yes, yes, yes, CT, US, US
This did not give me any info on Ernest or his age but what you found
sure did. Thank you. I'm now think that this is not my Ernest SENIOR
because of the age but it could be a son of my Ernest SENIOR (not
incredibly likely but possible). I think my Ernest SENIOR died young but
I'm not sure how young. He is in the 1870 census. I have not found him
in the 1880 census nor have I found any monument inscription for him
near his father, Joseph and sister, Elizabeth in Northfield, Litchfield
Township, CT.
In the 1870 census listing (page 45 (or 171)) from Litchfield Township,
two
years before Joseph SENIOR died I found my SENIOR family:
SENIOR, Joseph, 40, M, W, Knife Maker, England
Hannah, 38, F, W, Keeping House, England
Nettie, 11, F, W, Conn
Lizzie, 9, F, W, Conn
Fannie, 6, F, W, Conn
Ernest, 5, M, W, Conn
Sarah, 3, F, W, Conn
(not in 1870 census) Ruth born April 1871
I am trying to find Ernest's death certificate in order to find out more
about his parents. There is an Ernest in the 1891 Directory for
Waterbury (Ancestry):
Ernest Senior driver employed 209 South Main boards 444 do Waterbury
CT 1891
The 1900 census indicated that Hannah Blakeslee (formerly SENIOR) had 6
children,
4 living. (She is listed twice with different daughters and one census
page says she had 1 child and 1 child living which we know is
incorrect.) I know Elizabeth SENIOR died at age 33 (abt 1893-4). And I
know Nettie, Sarah, Fanny and Ruth are still living in 1900. I was
hoping to get an early death record to learn about the parents since
Joseph died in 1872 when the children were young and I figure the
information on later certs will be more vague on him.
Thank you very much for these very helpful and incredibly fast look-ups
that have helped me sort through my thoughts. If anyone comes across
this Ernest SENIOR, please let me know.
Thanks many times,
Ginny Echelberger
