Hi all,
Still trying to sort out this family. Too many James HAYNES' in Barbour's
Collection for New London and not enough information. Is anyone working this
line or have any New London Haynes' marrying into their lines?
BARBER, p. 132
James, s. Charles & Mary, b. 1 Mar 1664
James, s. Jonathon & Sarah, b. 5 Nov 1707
*James of New London, s. James, decd. m. Phebe Chapple, of New
London, dau of George, 30 Nov 1767
James, s. James & Phebe, b. 14 Sep 1770
James, Sr. d. 9 Aug 1780
*[my 3ggrandfather]
James, Sr does not appear to be the father of "my" James, since Sr died in
1780, while James, the father of "my" James, is already deceased at the time
of the marriage in 1767.
I don't believe the James, s. of Jonathon & Sarah is "my" James or that
would make him 60 years old at the time of his marriage; possible, but since
he had about ten kids after the marriage, not too probable, particularly
since Phebe is only 22 years old in 1767 at the time of the marriage. Either
he or James, son of Charles & Mary could however be my James' father.
James and Phebe had my 2ggrandfather, Gurdon Haynes, 20 Nov 1779, who had
my ggrandfather, Elias Perkins (E. P.) Haynes, 26 Jan 1806 all in New
London/ Waterford.
So what I need, is when was my James born and which James is his father?
Wouldn't object to having Gurdon's death date either, probably in Waterford
or New London after 1850. Thanks so much for wading through all this.
