The United States Submarine base is located in Groton, CT. When the naval
base was established the area was considered New London. The USS Natuilus
Submarine Force Library and Museum may be where you wish to begin your
search. The web address is: http://www.ussnautilus.org or you may telephone
them at 1-800-343-0079 . The facility is closed on Tuesdays for weekly
maintenance. They are the best source to begin your research.

Did you find your ancestor in the 1920 census? At the end of the Groton
census you will find all the men stationed at the base.

Another organization you may consider contacting is the Submarine Veterans
Club. Inc., 40 School St., Groton CT 06340; 1-860-445-5262. This
organization is mostly WWII vets, but many of them are very interested in the
sub service history.
