Hi,

I just posted an old newspaper article that reported the drowning of James BAILEY (of "Pine Island) near the New London Harbor. He fell out of the canoe that he used when he went to collect his lobster pots.

This was scanned from an original issue of The Newport Herald dated September 18, 1788, and you can see it online here:
