Samuel Maxwell, according to family records is the great-great-grandfather of my great-great-grandfather, John Smith Maxwell. Samuel and his 4 brothers left Scotland to avoid persecution. In about 1631, Samuel came to Massachusetts, Robert went to North Ireland, James went to Rhode Island, John went to Virginia, and William went to South Carolina.
John Smith Maxwell was born about 1813 in Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut, and his parents were John Maxwell and Lucy Smith Maxwell, also of Lebanon, Connecticut. I am looking for more information about Samuel Maxwell and the line between he and John Smith Maxwell.
I would really appreciate any help that I can get.
