I don't know if this is a relative, but I came across a reference to a rural
guard chief of Oriente, Lieutenant Colonel Juan Vaillant. He is quoted in the
book as attesting to the extensive Cuban support for bandits in February of
1902. The reference was in the book "Lords of the Mountain Social Banditry
and Peasant Protest in Cuba 1878-1918" by Louis A. Perez, Dir page 123.
I don't know of what use they may be to you, but I thought I would mention it.
