Dittos what Lupe said about the parishes. The government bureaucrats have
no interest in helping an exile or the next of kin of an exile. They view
us as the enemy, preparing to ride back to Cuba on some quixotic crusade and
take over.
I've encountered many willing and capable people at the parishes willing to
help. Some have gone up and beyond what I felt was necessary to accomodate
the request. The parish staff enjoy talking with Americans -- you will be
surprised at some of the things they tell you as well. I have some contacts
in several havana parishes if you need them, write.

It took about 6 months, I had already given up. They are not willing to
help, the government employees in key positions are all communist, but there
is always an anti-communist in the bunch, and that person sent the document
to me without a name that I could thank.
I did try several different government registers with only 2 replies.
Looking at it positively "two more than I had." You should also try the
parishes, they are a bit more reliable. Go ahead, it might works again.
Don't give up!
Lupe
