Since you solicited opinions, mine is that you should do whatever makes you
feel comfortable regarding your name, and whatever is agreeable to you and
the father of your prospective children regarding theirs.
In the past, I have had fought some battles with INS examiners that insisted
that a woman was obligated to take on her husband's name when she became a
permanent resident. In the last few years, it has not even come up as an
issue. So, even the government agencies are learning.
