Subject: [CUBA] CDs for Cuban Records
Date: Sun, 8 Apr 2001 15:35:51 -0400
I just received 'Ancestry Product Watch,' and in viewing the list of CDs that are for sale and which contain everything, from Military Records to Census Records from the 18th Century, I began to wonder whether it might be possible to undertake something similiar to preserve and disseminate our own Cuban records.
Specifically, I am thinking of the Mambi Army records that are being transcribed by CubaGenWeb volunteers, but of course this could include any other information pertaining to our particular research, such as the parrish registers published by Mayra Sanchez Johnson. Of course, something of this magnitude would be costly, but the sale of the CDs would defray some or all of the costs, and perhaps leave a little extra for future projects.
Would CubaGenWeb be interested in pursuing this idea, assuming it's not already considering it? It may be the information on Cuba research already exists in CD format, but I haven't found it.
Please advise.
Thanks.
Regards, Vivian Narvaez
