http://www.dropby.com/Genealogia/abreviaturas.html.

One of the many obstacles in translating old documents like those from the
Military Archive of Segovia is the generous and varied use of abreviations. For
my own use in translating that type of document I've been gathering lists of
spanish abreviations from various sources and I've put together a list of
abreviations I've found in those documents. For what it's worth and because it
might be of help to others I've put it at
http://www.dropby.com/Genealogia/abreviaturas.html.
I would also like help in finding other lists of abreviations and in
collaborating with other people who may have generated their own lists.
Cheers -- Matt
PS/ To comment on an earlier discussion about people being named after saints,
etc., as I was born on Nov 18, my middle name is Máximo (ugh), after St.
Maximus, a german saint. When I asked/complained about as a little kid, my
father told me to think of it as being named after Máximo Gómez (yeah, right :-)
