Subject: [CUBA-L] Orlando Sentinel looking for Cubans with roots to Spanish Florida
Date: Thu, 5 Jun 2003 17:52:45 EDT
El periodico Orlando Sentinel esta en busca de Cubanos que puedan documentar
sus raices a Españoles en la Florida cuando esta era parte de España.
Ms. Marie Zaret,
This is Ken Clarke with the Orlando Sentinel. I'm looking for Cubans (in
Florida or elsewhere) who have traced their family roots to Spanish colonial
Florida, and who might be interested in being included in a story I will be writing
for my newspaper on the subject.
It is a fascinating part of Florida history that deserves recognition. If you
know of anyone, please pass along my name and e-mail address and phone
number, and ask them to get in touch with me. Or send their name and address to me,
with their permission, of course, and I will call them or send an e-mail.
I am not Cuban or Hispanic, but I frequently write articles about Florida's
history, which is rich and colorful but mostly ignored in the anglicized
versions of history that is told in textbooks.
Thank you for your help,
Ken Clarke
