Dear Denise:
Your repply to my query was a very pleasant surprise, specially four
your grandmother´s direct account of her memories in Guane, please thank
her on my behalf.
Unfortunately I have never been to Guane and I have no direct
relatives there. For unknown reasons to me, my greatgrandparents left Guane
with all their children, including my grandfather around the 1920's, more
or less.
Dr. Rubio was my grandparents' family doctor and also Godfather to my
grandfather, the eldest of 5 of my greatgrandparents' children.
I read in my findings that Dr. Antonio Matias Rubio lost this first
wife, Prudencia Diaz (mother to the heroine Isabel Rubio Diaz and three
other children) and married a second time Feliciana Linares, who was an
aunt to my great grandmother and Godmother to my grandfather.
My great grandparents were Candido Gonzalez Arango born in Asturias,
Spain and Paula Odelinda Linares Gomez de Villegas, born in Guane, whose
children were:
1 - Pedro Manuel Gonzalez Linares, born in Guane in 1905 (my grandfather)
2 - Carmelo Gonzalez Linares, born in 1907,
3 - Candida Gonzalez Linares, born in 1910,
4 - Rosa Elvira Gonzalez Linares, born in 1912/1913 and
5 - Francisco Israel Gonzalez Linares, born in 1915.
I´d be very grateful if you could read these names to your
grandmother in case they mean anything to her. Similarly, if you happen to
have a family tree perhaps you could check wether any of these names appear
in it.

light you may shed on my findings.

Tu contestacion a mi anuncio ha sido gratamente sorprendente, sobre
todo por la implicación directa de los recuerdos personales tu abuela
durante su niñez en Guane, por todo lo cual les estoy muy agradecido.
Desgraciadamente, yo no conozco Guane, nin tengo alli ningun pariente
conocido. Por causas que nunca he sabido averiguar mis bisabuelos dejaron
Guane con todos sus hijos alrededor de 1920, aproximadamente.
El Dr. Rubio no solo era el medico la familia de mis bisabuelos, sino
tambien el padrino de mi abuelo materno, quien era el mayor de los 5 hijos
que tuvieron mis bisabuelos.
Segun he leido en el transcurso de mis pesquisas familiares, el Dr.
Antonio Matias Rubio quedo viudo de su primera esposa, Prudencia Diaz
(madre de la patriota Isabel Rubio Diaz y otros 3 hijos) y contrajo
segundas nupcias con Feliciana Linares, quien era tia de mi bisabuela y
madrina de mi abuelo.
Mis bisabuelos fueron:
- Candido Gonzalez Arango, natural de Asturias, España y
- Paula Odelinda Linares Gomez de Villegas, natural de Guane, quienes
tuvieron los siguientes hijos:

Me agradaria mucho que pudieses leer estos nombres a su abuela para
ver si le resultan familiares o le traen algun otro recuerdo a la memoria.
De igual forma, quizas en su arbol genealogico pudiese aparecer alguno de
estos apellidos.
Le agradezco anticipadamente por el interes y el tiempo que le esta
dedicando a estas averiguaciones y por la luz que le pueda aportar a mis
busquedas.
