Hello Ana,
I am not sure if there is any confusion with respect to to area of Macagua. This is a small sugar mill town in Las Villas in Cuba. I have family originating from there. Perhaps there is a deciphering mishap and the N in Managua is really a C for Macagua? Perhaps this can help you. Please let me know.

Hi,
I just deciphered some documents from Cuba where it states that some of my
ancestors (Jose DueƱas) came from Managuas. But none of the Google searches
have helped me find a town by that name in either Cuba or Spain (where my
ancestors came from). While I'm asking, is the name Managua or Managuas? Not that I
could find either (except in Nicaragua).
I know Cuba has changed the names of many provinces & towns. This document
is from 1844, so it is possible this town has changed it's name more than
once. If anyone knows or can tell me where I can find this information, I would
be grateful.
Thanks,
Ana
