Hi,
Willard Rouse Jillson compiled a number of books but the 2 volume set
that is called something like, The Systemic Index to Early Kentucky Land
Records is the standard ref. book. It is available on-line thru
Wilowbend Books for $100 for the set. I have ordered a set but did this
just yesterday so I can't vouch for the quality of the reprinting, etc.
nor do I have any connection or interest in Willowbend, just wanted to
pass this on. Other sources are some Historical Societies and Libraries.
This is a pretty basic genealogy reference book in Kentucky but I'm not
sure about libraries in other states having it. The listings are brief
and don't tell exactly where the land was located, other than in what
county and on what waterway, date of entry, #acres, etc.
I was not aware that some of the plat books had maps that showed who
owned what land. I was in Wayne Co.Ky in Dec but didn't find the plat
books at all. There were loose plats from the 1900's but I didn't find
any earllier, unless we just missed them. I am interested in those plat
books for Hardin Co.Ky but would need them for late 1800's and early
1900's. Does anyone know if these are available and where? Thanks.
