Nannie Lawson Brown, 83, Corbin, passed away Friday, September 7, 2001 at
the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church.
Survivors include four sons, James O. Brown of Shelbyville, Indiana,
Rodney Creed Brown of Somerset, Arthur Ray Brown of Corbin, and Billy Joe
Brown of Williamsburg; one daughter, Linda Owsley of Shelbyville, Indiana;
five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anzie Marie
Lovitt of Corbin, Essie Leach of LaFollette, Tennesse, and Juanita Thomas of
Tyler, Texas; as well as a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her
passing
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Brown and a son, Robert
Orie Brown.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 9 at the Croley Funeral Home
Chapel with Brother Neal Dexter officiating. Burial was in the Faber
Cemetery.

Delbert F. Baird, Hamilton, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 3, 2001
at his residence, to be with the Lord and his wife.
He was born on March 13, 1918 in Cynthiana, the son of Carl and May
(Johnson) Baird. On April 7, 1944 he married Georgia Brock in Covington.
Delbert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield, Ohio. He
worked at the Ford Motor Company before retiring in September of 1980.
He is survived by a beloved son, Randy; daughters-in-law, Connie and
Carolyn Baird; grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Meredith, and Anna Baird;
beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Georgia Mae (Brock) Baird;
son, Dr. Gregory Baird; his parents; and his brother Glenn Baird.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 8 at the Avance Funeral
Home, Fairfield, Ohio with burial at Rose Hill Burial Park.
Donations in Delbert's memory may be made to First Baptist Church of
Fairfield, 1072 Hicks, Fairfield Ohio 45014.


Marie Douglas Masey, 89, Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday, September 4,
2001 at Windwood Health & Rehab Center in Clinton, Tennessee.
Marie was originally from Whitley County.
She is preceded in death by husband Daniel Masey; father, Charlie Ponder;
mother Lela Lawson Ponder; brother, Starling Ponder; sisters Sudie Holman
and Berthie Ponder.
Survivors include sons, Charlie Lawson of Ohio and Norman Lawson and
wife, Annie of Powell, Tennessee; brother, John Ponder of Whitley County;
eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday, September 7 at Woodhaven Memorial
Gardens.


Francis Mitchell Jones, 94. a former resident of Baptist Housing, passed
away Thursday, September 6, 2001 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 19, 1907 in Knox County to the late Joel and Lina
Reynolds Mitchell. She was a retired sales clerk, and belonged to the
Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Rondal Jones of Fairfield, Ohio; seven
grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 8 at O'Neil Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Bill Mitchell and Rev. Roy Mitchell officiating. Burial was
in the Rest Haven Cemetery.


Otilla Burnett Ramsey, 86, Corbin, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2001
at Baptist Regional Medical Center.
She owned and operated Otilla's Beauty Shop in Corbin for over 50 years.
She was born to the late William Thomas and Charlotte Ann Walters Burnett
on April 28, 1915 at Wilton.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Richard Ramsey and wife, Gloria of
Versailles and Roy Lee Ramsey and wife, Delores of Corbin; two sisters, Eula
Taylor of Corbin and Emeline Christopher of Morgantown, West Virginia; six
grandchildren, Bobbie Aholec and husband, Nicholas of Cary, Illinois, Mark
Ramsey and wife, Sandy of Corbin, Terri McClary and husband, Michael of Los
Angeles, California, Brian Ramsey of Louisville, Melanie Yeager and husband,
Michael of Corbin, and Miranda Ramsey of Corbin; three great-grandchildren,
Dean Ferguson of Cary, Illinois, Chelsea and Nicholas Yeager of Corbin.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 7 at the O'Neil Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Carl McCray officiating. Burial was in the Gray
Cemetery.


Earl Patterson, 70, Vaughn Street, Corbin, passed away Sunday, September
9, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center in LaFollette, Tennessee.
He was born June 23, 1931 in Knox County to the late Steve and Mossie
Mills Patterson.
Earl was a former licensed funeral director, and had been a store manager
for Dollar General Store, S&T Hardware, and Howard Brothers. He attended
First Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Imagene Messer Patterson; three children,
Earl Patterson, Jr. and wife, Mary of London, Barbara Jean Asher and
husband, Anthony of Manchester, and Katrina Dixon of Woodbine; seven
grandchildren, Kristina, Kelli, Sonya, Amy, Ashley, Denny, and John.
Four sisters preceded him in death, Corda Gambrell, Ida Gambrell, Bertha
Harman, and Hester Pollard.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 12 at the
O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Elliott officiating. Burial will
follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery.


Kathleen Denny, 80, Woodbine, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2001 in
the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
She was born May 19, 1921 in Corbin to the late Otis and Fannie Alsip
Perkins. She was a former secretary for Oakwood Market Premium Store in
Kingsport, Tennessee before returning to Corbin. She belonged to Central
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Denny; two daughters: Linda DeHart
of Aberdeen, Maryland and Peggy Joe Hoover of Woodbine; four grandchildren,
Jennifer Hoover and Kim Haas of Evansville, Indiana, Chris DeHart and Scott
DeHart of Aberdeen, Maryland; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Justin
of Evansville, Indiana; a sister, Billie Hibbard of Lexington; and a
brother, Joe C. Perkins of Lake Worth, Florida.
A sister, Alma Craig, and a brother, R.H. Perkins II preceded her in
death.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 9 at O'Neil Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton and Rev. Ron Green officiating. Burial was
in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or
Central Baptist Church, Corbin.


Eunice T. Leake, 81, Corbin, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2001 in
the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 4, 1920 in Corbin to the late Joe and Rebecca
Pemberton Lawson.
She was the wife of the late Charles Leake and a member of the First
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Tom Allen of
Corbin; two grandsons and their wives, Rob and Jill Allen of Monticello, and
Bryan and Dendra Allen of Georgetown; three great-grandchildren, Bryden
Allen of Georgetown, Rachel and Renee Allen of Monticello; two sisters,
Julia Powell and Elizabeth White of Corbin; and a brother, Leslie Lawson of
Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Saturday at O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel with
Dr. Barry Howard officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers.


Cecil Waldroup, 80, 13th Street, Williamsburg, passed away Monday,
September 3, 2001 at his home.
Survivors include one daughter, Julia Sulfridge of Williamsburg; two
grandsons, Adam Sulfridge and Chad Waldroup, both of Williamsburg; three
sisters, Glenna Waldroup of Fayetteville, Georgia, Lillian Waldroup
Pasterick of Evendale, Ohio, and Nina Waldroup Dykes of Springdale, Ohio;
and two brothers, George Waldroup of Germantown, Ohio and Clifford Waldroup
of Dayton.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 6 at the Jones & Son
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester officiating. Burial was in the
Highland Park Cemetery - Davis Addition.


Richard Davis, 40, Emlyn, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2001 at
Baptist Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Elmer B. and Anna Mae Davis.
Survivors include 3 brothers, Blaine Davis and wife, Brenda of Saxton,
Elmer B. Davis, Jr. and wife, Kay of Woodbine, George Davis and wife,
Darlene of Saxton; a special friend, Roy West; as well as several nieces,
nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 11 at the Ellison Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Douglas
Cemetery (Sunny Hill Cemetery) at Saxton.


Sarah Newport, 83, Corbin, passed away September 3, 2001 at the Baptist
Regional Medical Center. An aunt Hyla Rose of Corbin survives.
Funeral services were held September 6 at the Hart Funeral Home with Rev.
Jim Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Corinth Cemetery by the Hart
Funeral Home.

Ruth Moore, 52, Jellico, Tennesse passed away, September 1, 2001 at the
Jellico Community Hospital.
The body was cremated. Arrangements by Cox & Son Funeral Home.

Shirley "Jody" Barton, 64, of Corbin, passed away, September 3, 2001 at
her residence. She was the wife of the late Leroy H. Barton.
Funeral services were held September 6 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel
with Father Jerome Stern of St. Jules Church officiating. Burial was in the
Cumberland Memorial Gardens by the Hart Funeral Home.


Samuel Dant Hamblin, 69, formerly of Whitley County, passed away
September 9, 2001 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He is the brother of
Myrtle Lambdin of Williamsburg.
Funeral services were held September 12 at Hoppers Funeral Home with the
Rev. Wayne McCoy officiating. Burial was in the Wells Cemetery. Obituary

Randall Allen Steele, 38, Hamilton, Ohio, passed away September 2, 2001.
He is survived by three children.
Funeral services were held September 8 at the Vankirk Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Loyall Brown officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery
by Vankirk Funeral Home.


Jeffery Wayne Cox, 32, Corbin, passed away September 6, 2001 at his home.
He is survived by wife, Gloria Cox of Corbin.
Funeral services were held September 9 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. George Peace officiating. Burial was in the Corinth Cemetery


Stanley Petrey, 80, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Monday, September
10, 2001 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin. His wife, June
Petrey of Corbin, survives.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., September 12 at the Hart Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the
Clear Fork Cemetery.


Linda Lanham, 45, Newport, passed away September 3, 2001 at St. Luke East
Hospital in Ft. Thomas.
Funeral services were held September 7 at the Jones & Son Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Dorman Patrick officiating. Burial was in the Young
Cemetery.
