Subject: [CUMBERLAND-RIVER] Mirick Family

On 6 May 1871, in Knox County, my great-great grandfather, William B.
Trosper, married his second wife, Rebecca Mirick, whose age was 57. This marriage
is recorded in Knox County Marriage Book C, page 430. I have found her name
spelled as Minich, Mirich, Myrnick, Miricle, Miracle, Mirack, and Mink in
various records and data from other researchers. The 1870 census of Barbourville
in Knox County lists a Rebecca Myrick, age 55, born in VA (in the household of
Stephen Chance, whose wife is recorded as Mary Minton, age 56, b. VA).
William B. Trosper died on 12 Jan 1880 and is not in the 1880 census.
Rebecca is listed as "my beloved wife Rebecca Trosper" in his will, dated 5 Dec
1879 and filed in Laurel County in 1880. I have not found this Rebecca in 1880
or any other later census lists. (A different Rebecca Trosper is listed in the
1880 census with Jessie and Elizabeth Childers, in Knox County.)
Who was this Rebecca and was her last name Mirick? Was she related to John
Mirick, born 1857?
Thanks to Anthony for his query of 20 Aug 2007.
I hope he or some other researcher can help me!
