Further to my previous posting (written from memory), I should have added
that when the ecclesiastical parish of Haverthwaite was established in 1844
(from portions of Colton and Cartmel) it included the village of Backbarrow.

Some Haverthwaite registers deposited at Cumbria Record Office, Kendal
(with Bishops Transcripts at Barrow). Later registers at Haverthwaite
church.

Mannex Directory of 1851 may have Backbarrow still split between Colton &
Cartmel, but the statement would presumably have been out-of-date by this
time.
