NW Cumberland I've found:
Mathewman - Holme Cultram etc area
Ladyman - Central
Leadman - do
Priestman - NW - Quaker
Wightman - NW
In the south east are the Bridgeman, Lighterman and Waterman etc
relating
to river related occupations so it's surprising that there aren't a lot
of
Seaman (var spellings & related names) on the west coast.
Names like Hoffman & Letterman (seen on US & Can TV) originate in
Western
Europe - Netherlands Germany etc.
I expect that there are some GOODMANS appearing in Cumberland too <G>
Not Cumbrian I know, but since it seems that most 'man' names come from
professions or forenames, what would the name Tadman be associated with?
