For those of you that have not heard of the National Burial Index it was a project started some time ago by branches of the Family History Society. The idea was to record as many burials in England and Wales as possible from around 1530 to the present date.

The first issue of the CD with this information on was released on 23rd April this year. It is not a complete index as a number of counties, including Cumberland did not participate. Cornwall and Devon were others that spring to mind.

Not every church burial from every county that took part is included but if you have an interest in any of the counties that took part let me have the names and I will do look ups.
