Melvin Bragg's "Speak for England" gives a good idea about life in the
county. He'd been talking to his Grandmother and in this particular book
its her memories he's relating (if I remember rightly.) It's quite a good
few years since I bought the book and unfortunately I loaned it to someone
not realising that the "loan" would become permanent! I do remember,
though, that I thoroughly enjoyed it and I thought it gave a good insight
into our grandparents' lives.
