Dave:
Thanks for this lovely info. I did trace this particular John Wilson
Diamond on the 1881 census. They had two daughters living with them:
Mary Eleanor who was 3 years old, and Ann (my g-g-grandmother) who was
11 years old. They had other children too. Hannah (14) I found working
at a farm in Gosforth and Joseph (18) apprenticing as a boot and
shoemaker in Distington. What I did not know until you emailed, was
Susannah's maiden name - Branthwaite. So you've very kindly opened up a
new branch for me.

The John Diamond that was my g-grandfather was Ann's illegitimate son,
born in 1892. No idea who is biological father was. He had a sister,
also born out of wedlock named Ellie....all this I discovered this past
week.

I do not yet know if this man was related or not. I will have to trace
the descendants of Ann Diamond's siblings - Hannah, Joseph, and Mary
Eleanor.
The search continues.
Many thanks for all your help,
Amanda
