Rather a long time ago now, C. Roy Hudleston and R.S. Boumphrey researched
and wrote two books on the heraldry of Cumbria: 'An Armorial for
Westmorland and Lonsdale' [main author: Boumphrey; additional author: J.
Hughes; 1975]; and 'Cumberland Families and Heraldry' [main author:
Hudleston; 1978].
The books were intended to be a complete list of all known heraldry in the
area (whether official or just appearing on gravestones, etc.). As an
additional bonus, the books give a short summary of the known history of the
families concerned - as these histories are often based on information
provided by the families, they can be inaccurate. Even so, the information
is invaluable for anyone researching families that might have used coats of
arms (in other words, anyone with upwardly mobile middle class social
pretensions!).
They were published by CWAAS [The Cumberland & Westmorland Antiquarian &
Archaeological Society], but I can't see on their publications list that
they are still in print.

At time of writing, Amazon UK have a used copy of AWL for £76.88 (ouch!!)
but nothing for CFH. There are cheaper copies available if you search at:
http://www.abebooks.co.uk/?cm_ven=ggl&cm_cat=couk&cm_pla=antiquarian%20book&cm_ite=antiquarian%20books
You may also be able to get copies on a library loan system.
To give a flavour of what you might expect. The surname FLETCHER in CFH has
11 entries, from three lines to twenty-four. The entry on FLETCHER, of
Tallantire reads:
'This branch of the Fletcher family was founded by Lancelot Fletcher, of
Cockermouth, brother of Henry Fletcher, Mary Queen of Scots' host (see
Fletcher, of Cockermouth and Hutton-in-the-Forest). His son George Fletcher
acquired Tallantire, which descended to Henry Fletcher (d.1712), aged 25 at
the visitation of 1665, and described by Sandford as "a great gamester." His
daughter Anne (d. 1721, aged 53) marr. 1688 Matthias Partis, q.v., and
carried Tallantire to that family. Arms. Argent a cross engrailed Sable
between four pellets each charged with a pheon of the field in trhe sexter
chief a canton Gules. Crest. A horse's head couped Argent charged with a
trefoil slipped Gules (FCW)'

Hi Chris and Petra,
Now, if I'm understanding this correctly, the Carlisle Wills are indexed to
1750 but no Henry Fletcher is listed.
But Chris you say "Henry Fletcher of Hutton died in 1712 and left a PCC
will. 'Cumberland
Families and Heraldry', in the section on the Fletchers of Cockermouth and
Hutton, states that this Henry died in 1712."
QUESTIONS? 'Cumberland Families and Heraldry' Is this a Book and would it
have a transcrit of the will or ?? (Wonder if Ancestry.com has it) Where
would I look for the Will at? What is a PCC Will? Where can this
'Cumberland Families and Heraldry' be found? Where is Hutton? Is it a city
like Whitehaven or Carlisle?? or a small villiage like Kentmere?
Thanks for the link to the sale article on Tallentire Hall.
Regards
Nelda
