That is interesting to me also, regarding the War?.
I have records showing a gr. Uncle who
signed up as a volunteer in 1908 at age 37 and served for 9 years in the
Border Regiment, being discharged in 1914.
The Form he signed was entitled
TERRITORIAL FORCE, "used only for Imperial Yeomanry or Volunteers
prior to April 1st, 1908 enlisting in the Force."
His signature was below the pledge of allegiance to King Edward
He was assigned to the 4th Battalion of the Border Regiment,
volunteering in Penrith. His son volunteered in Kendal in 1914.
