Very old field stone with "F + S" cut on it.

The cemetery on U. S. Route 50 near the Meadland Road is completely
overgrown. One large black walnut tree near the front of the cemetery has
prevented the growth of bushes in the area near it. As many will recall,
notheing much but grass will grow under a black walnut tree. The cemetery was
established in 1848 as a Protestant burial ground by the Ironside Primitive
Baptist Church. Extent one acre. Graves marked by monuments and fieldstones.
No burial records were kept. The earliest stone dated 1848 Thomas B. Allen,
an Englishman who resided here and lived to be 108 years old. One Was of 1812
& four Civil War veterans were buried here. Marked graves: 60; unmarked
graves not indicated by W.P.A. records. At the present time this cemetery is
enclosed on three sided by barbed wire fence, leaving the only access across
the ditch and up the embankmant from Rt. 50, over a faintly marked land or 4
wheel drive path. There are Taylor Co. residents wo well remember the old
church which stood there and was sometimes called Oldside Church. The
readings were done by the W.P.A. in 1931, by Marilyn J. Greenleaf in 1978,
and by Blaine and Janice Sharps on 11 May 1985. It is deteriating fast. The
readings may give the reader some indications of burials and relationships.
