Hi Anne!
I think the problem you are having is with AOL. They seem to be having
ALOT of bad hair days here, lately. All bounced messages are sent to the
list managers of the different lists. We then have to deal with them
accordingly. This could be bounces from full mailboxes, servers on the
fritz, and a number of other reasons. You can't believe the bounce
messages I receive from AOL! This past week there have been many!
Normally their bounce messages say something like "this address is not
found in the AOL subscribers' accounts. If you need the correct mailing
address, please check out our web page. We will not give out personal
information on our subscribers." Or something to that effect. I know
that these addresses are correct and they are subscribed to the different
lists, but they still bounce back. And this means you folks on AOL
aren't receiving all your mail.
It would be interesting if some of the AOL users subscribe to one of the
freebie mail accounts like Juno, Hotmail, etc, and then sub to a list
with that new address. You could then monitor mail coming in on both
accounts and just see how much you are missing. I know that there are
some days when every AOL address gets bounced with every message that is
posted. There has been alot of discussion about AOL problems on the
listsowners' list. I know some of the list owners that manage large 500+
lists, that also have quite a few AOL subscribers, are pulling their hair
out by the roots at the end of the day when AOL burps!
By the way, I checked back through old messages and I found two that you
sent about the CURTIS wills - both on 11/11 - one at 9:47:42 EST and the
other 9:54:30 EST. These both made it to the list (and you didn't see
them posted?) The third didn't even make it to the list. This leads me
to believe that AOL is having both sending and receiving problems. I
think I would raise a stink, as you are definetly not getting what you're
paying for!
I myself would like to see the details of the wills, if it's not too much
trouble to type them out and post them to the list. I'ld like to add
them to my collection of stuff in case I run across anyone searching your
lines. And I always keep any info on NY CURTISes as somebody, someway,
has to be linked to my good ole Comfort of Genesee Co! <BG>
Have a great evening...
