Hello Sonja,
I tried adding again and up came the old one with my entered info. When I
tried to save layout up popped a message "70 permission denied".I then tried
to add column with a new
form field name and column title.Same result.
I think it possible that the original fault was that EcclesiasicalParish was
more than 20 letters when it put User in front of it.Now I can find no way
of saving layout with or without an extra column. Is there any solution?

Best wishes
Jennifer

Hello Jennifer
It does sound like the column wasn't saved - if this is the case, you can
create it again with the same name. If it still exists, you won't be allowed
to use exactly the same name.
Once you've entered the details and clicked on Create Column, the new column
will be made in the database. When you leave the data-entry form, you should
get a prompt - "Do you want to Save new layout" and you should select Yes -
this will save the column into your layout file. Perhaps it was this last
bit
you didn't do?
Regards
Sonja
