Hi, Richard and all

As usual, Richard keeps us up-to-date. I just checked the website he sent us
for the General Registry Office in Dublin in order to understand and perhaps
participate in the petition. Alas, the petition is structured with questions
that are limited to only those people who have actually used the facilities
of the GRO in Dublin. And I haven't got there yet. My contact has only been
through searches by email and snail mail. So I can't sign.

However, I did follow some links at that website and found this point of
information. The GRO maintains local offices throughout Ireland. Have no
idea what their holdings are or what their computer access is to Dublin. The
local offices do not take foreign checks as Dublin does.

Nonetheless, here is a County Tipperary address where one such office is
located:

General Registry Office
County Tipperary, S. Riding
County Clinic
Western Road
Clonmel, Tipperary
Ireland

Best, Rosemary

To anyone who has any experience of using the Dublin General Register
Office research room in person. (This is the home of civil registered
births, marriages and deaths) You are needed for a petition to try and
improve access and facilities there which are appalling. The petition
closes July 12th. See
