Hi Kathleen
My first relook would be what religion that early marriage was and if you
can look at that record to see if he belonged to that church?
It would eliminate a huge amount of looking if he happened to be C of I.

Subject: [COTIPPERARY] Roll Call - John J. Ryan

I have hesitated to write as I have so little information on my
great-grandfather, John J. Ryan (John Joseph Ryan I believe is his full
name). But
since three of my sisters will visit Ireland in September, I thought I
would
send a query and see if anyone can help break through this solid brick
wall.

Family lore says that John was from Tipperary, Ireland (birth certificates
of children say he was born in Ireland). I realize that with such a common
name and no specific city, and no exact date of birth, it may be impossible

to trace his lineage. (Another uncle thought he might have been from Cork,
but he was relying on childhood memories, and most others in the family
say Tipperary.) He may have had a sister, Mary, and a brother, or
brother-in-law named Daniel, and possibly a nephew Tom.

What we do know is that around 1888 he married Margaret (Maggie) McDonald
[born February 12, 1867 in Canada). His first daughter was Mary Francis,
born in Michigan (city not known) on December 12, 1889. The family later
moved to Ironwood, MI where Grayce Helen was born on December 15, 1891, and

John Andrew was born on June 5, 1894. Grayce was baptized at St. Ambrose
Church in Ironwood. Her birth certificates state that John was a miner,
but
it is not known which mine he worked at.

The family next moved to Butte, MT where John secured another mining job
and his son Daniel Hennessy was born on January 16, 1895 .

John died in 1900 and is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, part of Holy
Cross Cemetery, in Butte, Montana, Silver Bow County, State of Montana,
USA.
His age at death was 46, which makes his birth year either 1853 or 1854.

If anyone can offer any assistance, I will be extremely grateful. Thank
you in advance for your assistance.

Kindest regards,
Kathleen Kelly
