Leith,
If the age at death was accurate, then you will not be able to find a _civil_
birth record. What you might be able to obtain is a christening or baptismal
record.

His 1929 death certificate would only be obtainable from Belfast. For any
vital record pre-1922, you could get the certificate from Dublin and Belfast.

Do you have a civil certificate for his marriage? if so, what townland was he
from? That would help you becuase the townland will lead you to the parish
anme. The parish name is needed to get the church records.
I ahve a chart on my web page with all the parishes of Tyrone which may help
you. It's found towards the bottom under the section for Tyrone.

<<I am searching for a record of the birth of Thomas Hutton, my great
great grandfather. To date, I have located a record of his marriage and
of his death. Both record his place of birth as County Tyrone, Ireland.
However, I believe County Tyrone is in Northern Ireland, is it not?
According to his death certificate, he was 76 years of age when he died
in 1929, which would mean he was born around 1853. I have no record of
who his parents were, or who, if any, his siblings were.
I would like to know whether the information I have provided is enough
to undertake a search for a record of the birth of Thomas Hutton, born
about 1853 in Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
If anyone has access to appropriate indices that may exist, I would
very much appreciate it if they could be searched for me, as I am
unfamiliar with Irish research.>>
