Hi Eveyone,
My Grandmother, Elizabeth Sullivan, was born 1 April 1862 - 64 in the old
townland of Gortnascregga. She was the daughter of Daniel Sullivan and
Johanna Connor. She married Michael Daly, who she met while working in Cork
City. Their oldest child Timothy Daly was born in Liscarroll, Co Cork.
Sponsers on his batismal certificate are Bridget Sullivan and John Breslin.
Tim was the only one born in Ireland. (1884)
Gortnascregga was an old townland, I don't believe it really exist any
more, 336 acres in the eastern region of Cork, Barony of Dunhallow, Civil
Parish of Clonfert and PLU of Kanturk. I believe is was somewhere near
Newmarket and Kanturk.
My Question: Does anyone have any idea whatsoever which Catholic Parish
would hold the records, ie batismal etc, for people living in that old
townland? Any idea at all would be gratfully received.
Slainte
Pat (Padraigin Ni Dalaigh)
