O'CONNELL - I have traced our O'CONNELL family to Salmon, Lemhi Co.
ID. I am trying to find my great great grandparents who were born in Ireland
and lived in Lincoln, NE during the late 1800's. This I know to be true, as
my
great grandmother, their daughter, Mary Ann U. (Mayme) O'CONNELL
HARRY, born in 1863 in Madison, WI is buried in Cincinnati, OH., where I was
born and raised. I have an autograph book of hers with statements written by
her friends. She was married to my great grandfather in 1886 in Lincoln, NE.
My mother has searched for over some 40 years to find her great
grandmother's maiden name and also to find where her great grandparents are
buried. Her own mother was born in Lincoln, NE in 1887.
My mother is 86 years now and because of having Osteoporosis so bad, she is
no longer able to do genealogy. She can't walk or write any longer and her
eyesight is very poor, but her mind is still pretty good. Her health 'is'
failing
pretty fast though. I am hoping that you can help me to find any information
so
I can fulfill her dream. It would make her (us) so happy. I hadn't cared
about
genealogy, but now that my mother can't search anymore, I desperately want to
help her.
My great great grandparents were John O'CONNELL & Jane (Johanna)
(maiden name ?) O'CONNELL. They both were born in Ireland. They were
Catholic and lived in Lincoln, NE. I'm (guessing), that John O'CONNELL might
have been born about 1827. I can't guess an age for (Jane or Johanna's
O'CONNELL). I know they also had a son named William O'CONNELL and
know that William and his family went to Salmon, Lemhi Co. ID. I have them on
the 1910 census. And, I also have a post card picture of them from Salmon,
Lemhi Co. ID. I believe that John O'CONNELL went there with them, as he is
listed as (father 73 years and a widower). There is a William O'CONNELL and
another man who built the Episcopal & Catholic Churches in Salmon, Lemhi
Co. ID in early 1900's. I believe this to be our William, as he was a stone
mason. I can't find John's death in Salmon, ID and believe that he might have
went back to Lincoln, NE or the family took him, where I'm guessing again that
his wife is buried. 'Any' help with my O'CONNELLs would be 'greatly'
appreciated. Thanking you,
Anna L. Wagner -
