Subject: Registry of Deeds $ and 1901 census
Date: Tue, 6 Oct 1998 19:11:33 EDT

Hello-

I am preparing to write to the Registry of Deeds on Henrietta St. for a copy
of a deed for one of my ancestors. Can anyone tell me how much this will cost
and what exactly should I be asking for? Is this a deed or a memorial?

Also, I wanted to suggest to people that if they can find their families
townland and know that family may have stayed on the land, it may be a good
idea to check the 1901 census for Ireland EVEN if your ancestors left before
then. I just read the census and I was impressed with the details included. In
addition to the usual family report, the house is described; how many rooms,
walls of stone, etc., roof etc., and outbuildings are specified; piggery, cow
house, etc. Gave me a good picture of the cottage my family had left in 1865.
