This is a re-posting at the request of Patricia, who is also researching
COVENEYs. Where are you, Patricia? Perhaps someone else has also
joined the list since my first post?

My husband's grandmother was Kate Augusta COVENEY. She was apparently
born in the US as were several siblings, but three had been previously
born in Ireland. Kate's brother John Oliver COVENEY is said to have
been born in Kinsale, County Cork, Jan. 25, 1849, and landed with his
(and Kate's) parents and perhaps two sisters, Sarah and Ella, in New
York May 21, 1853. Don't know the name of the ship. The parents were
John David COVENEY, Jr., b 1813, and Catherine KELLY Coveney, b 1826.
Would love to have more details and of course anything from even earlier
generations. I do have John David COVENEY, Sr. married Hellena COVENEY.
Sounds as if Coveney was her maiden name, but perhaps not.

Thanks for any help.
