My father's name was Herbert, known as Bert, probably Bertie at times. I
have known of Alberts e.g. Queen Victoria's consort known as Bertie. And I
know an Alberto in Australia called Bertie by his friends. I can think of a
number of other names that include "bert" in them and where Bertie might be
used affectionately. But none of my Cork ancestors were known as Bertie to
the best of my knowledge.

Best wishes, Ron Jones, Australia.
