It might help us to help you if you were a little less cagey with your
information :-) For example, if we knew his name, his occupation, religion
etc. All those things help us point you in the right direction - otherwise
the advice is so general that you might not get too much out of your time
there.
Many of us on this list are descended from the Bandon Protestant settlers of
the 1500/1600 period and so might know a fair bit about the records for
names and churches associated with those groups; however, if his name was
Patrick Murphy and he was a staunch Fenian, a different group on the list
might have suggestions for you ... do you see what I mean? Or he might have
been one of the few Quakers or Jewish people ... who knows?
Also, give us a clue as to what experience you have of Irish records
already. We hate teaching granny to suck eggs here :-) but it is so often
the case that you try and help by saying "Search here" or "Try that" only to
be told "I know all that -- done it -- got the tee shirt"; alternatively,
you might get the response, "what exactly is a parish register?" and you
know you pitched it too high!
