Subject: [Cork] Understanding the symbols of the 1851 Tithe
Date: Sat, 6 Nov 1999 20:39:19 EST
Hi Cork List!
Can someone help explain what the following means in the 1851 Tithe for
Gneeves. (I'll correct the spelling because almost all of them are part of
my family.) Lessor: Massy H. Masey. Occupiers:
1A-C Thomas Mullane L 16
A a John Mullane H
2AaBaC-F John Riordan HOL 56
B b Thomas Mullane HG 0
C a Jeremiah Mullane HOG 0
3A-Ca,D Jeremiah Mullane OL 13
I don't understand what the small and large letters on the left mean. I
guess the L on the right stands for laborer? H for owning a house? O? G?
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give. Thank You
Bob McDonagh
