My goodness! So many McCarthys on today's list and not a one of them the
McCarthy for whom I search!

I'm looking for Charles Edward DeLacey McCarthy who married Elizabeth Anna
McKernan sometime before 1867 most likely in Dublin though his home county
was Cork. My C.E.D. McCarthy was supposedly a surgeon in HBM Army and died
on a troop ship to or in India in 1867 or 1868.

Can anyone suggest how I can learn who this C.E.D. McCarthy was and which
McCarthy family he belonged to? I don't know if they were C. of I. or
Catholic? I don't know for sure what townland he came from. I do know that
my great grandmother called her home in Woodland, CA "Blarney's Bluff" and I
am presuming this was in honor of her father's ancestoral townland, but there
are other small pencil jottings that hint he might have been from Millstreet
Town - quite a distance away.

Is there anyone on this list that in knowledgable about the British Army in
Ireland during the aforementioned time frame? There must be some way in
which to track the life and death of a surgeon in the Army?!?

Any help, advise, or URL is greatefully received, Judy Martin
