Subject: [Cork] Cork & U.S. Civil War/Please name unit when asking

Hi.
I understand that a number of people from Cork originally fought in the
U.S. Civil War and I know there are a number of books on the subject. (For
example, on the Confederate side, one was General Patrick Cleburne who was
killed at the Battle of Franklin.) Please mention your Cork ancestor's
regimental unit if you know it when you are asking a question as it is
usually the only way I can tell if I might have information you need. Right
now, my husband is writing a regimental history of the 3rd Battalion
Mississsippi Infantry (sometimes this unit was known as the 45th
Mississippi) and he has done a lot of research on the units they were
directly fighting against. If if any of your Cork ancestors came to the
U.S. and fought in the Third Mississippi Battalion, C.S.A., let me know.
Thanks.
