Subject: [Cork] Suggestion on writing out dates
Date: Mon, 9 Dec 2002 14:31:03 EST

Hello,
I would like to make a suggestion when writing out dates. It would
eliminate a lot of confusion if we wrote out the month using the three letter
abbreviation instead of numbers. I would imagine most people realize that in
the US and Canada numerical dates are written month/day/year while in UK,
etc. it is written day/month/year. 4/7/02 could be April 7, 2002, or July
4,2002 depending on which system you use. For all the years I have been doing
family history research (which is a lot) I have seen professional researchers
and the PAF program use 7 Apr 2002 or 4 Jul 2002. I have found that doing it
this way saves a lot of wrong dates and confusion when people are trading
information and are using different dating systems.
Thanks for your consideration.
