I have a copy of my grandparents' Certificate of Marriage. Whoever copied it,obviously had difficulty deciphering the handwriting and wasn't familiar with Irish place names. In the Birthplace section is typed TUREENAVINSKENE KIRKEANE Cork Ireland. (1867) We are sure that the second word should be Kishkeam but haven't a clue what the first word stands for. We know he came from Boherbue. There are relatives still living there. Were farms given individual names? Grandfather called horses ' Boherbue' and 'Kiskeam',but we didn't hear of a 'Tureenaviskene.'
I can't find anywhere on the O.S. map that could be this word.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,Mary
