Looking for any possible information on ggg grandparents Daniel McCarthy and Margaret (Murphy) McCarthy (b abt 1785) from Inchincurka, Kilmichael Civil Parish, Co Cork. They were married before 1816.
Daniel and Margaret had six (possibly seven) children: John (b 1816), Eugene (b 1825), Margaret (b 1826), Julia (b 1827), Delia (b 1828), Catherine (b 1830), and Patrick (b 1835). Also the name Bridget comes up, but family thinks Delia and Bridget are one and the same as they were born in the same year.
John and a friend Thomas Sullivan (who later married Margaret) came to the US during the potato famin around 1848. We think Daniel might have come with them.
Margaret and the rest of the children came over around 1850. The first census we have been able to find them in is 1855 New York where they state they have been in the US five years and John seven years. Margaret gives her age as 70. No mention of Daniel.
Have searched all the ships passenger lists we could find and have found nothing.
Any info any one could shed on this would truly be appreciated. I've hit my brick wall.
